Abstract of the Disclosure A process of polymerization for the preparation of aromatic polyamides containing ether groups is disclosed which comprises a first step of dispersing an aromatic diamine containing ether groups as a first starting substance into an aqueous alkaline solution, a second step of dissolving an aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide as a second starting substance into a water-insoluble organic solvent, and a third step of adding the solution obtained in the second step to the dispersion obtained in the first step to effect reaction between the aromatic ? and the aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide. Aromatic ? prepared by this polymerization process have good melt flowability.
