ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention is concerned with a process of precipitating uranium oxide from soda-containing alkaline sodiumuranyl carbonate solutions by a reduction at tempera- tures above the boiling point of the solutions and under superatmospheric pressure, characterized in that particulate metallic iron used as a reducing agent is added to the alkaline soda solution. The process according to the invention allows to recover uranium oxide having a low valence in a simple and economical manner from alkaline soda solutions which contain sodiumuranyl carbonate.
