2085999 9200271 PCTABS00010 A process of preparing linearly-extended polyalkylenepolyamines, such as linear and branched polyethylenepolyamines, comprising contacting a difunctional aliphatic alcohol, such as monoethanolamine, with a reactant aliphatic amine, such as ethylenediamine, in the presence of a metal silicate catalyst wherein the metal is selected from Groups IIIB, IVB, VB and the lanthanide rare earth metals. Reactions of piperazines with alkanolamines to yield alcohol-extended and/or amine-extended piperazines are included in the process of this invention.
