ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a process of producing coarse pure potassium chloride crystals from feed solutions containing sodium chloride and other impurities , comprising evaporating the hot solution under a vacuum in a plurality of flash evaporation stages and further processing in a manner known per se , it is proposed that potassium chloride in the form of salt sludge from one or more flash evapo- ration stages and in the form of a highly concentrated , hot solutions of the potassium chloride which becomes available during the further processing and cannot be used should be recycled to the feed solution in order to ensure that the crystallization will begin in the first stage and potassium chloride product can be withdrawn from one or more of those stages of the cocurrent-flow flash evaporator which contain solution at a higher temperature . Pure potassium chloride in the form of coarse crystals having a uniform particle size is thus produced by an economical process that is ecologically satisfactory .
