A B S T R A C T The production of inextendible, liquid impermeable, flexible belts such as those used in presses to dewater fiber material webs and which are subjected therein to substantial tensile stresses, takes place by means of penetration of a bubble-free, flowable mixture of a prepolymer with a crosslinking agent into a reinforcing belt preferably formed as fabric and receiving the tension forces in longitudinal direction of the band. Penetration and thorough covering of the fabric belt is best achieved by pouring the polymer mixture thereover as the belt is held stretched and is moved.
