ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of carnallitic ores in which the carnallite is decomposed with the help of a brine having appropriate amounts of MgCl2, KCl and NaCl in order to effect precipitation of artificial sylvinite in a solution of magnesium chloride saturated with NaCl and KCl. According to this process, a collector for the flotation of potassium chloride and an additive to release a gas in the brine are added to the decomposition brine. This additive is preferably hydrogen peroxide. The process is particularly advantageous for the decomposition of carnallitic ores in situ.
