ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For a torsional vibration damper -- whose working chamber, formed by an inner shell (17), an outer shell (19), a rear wall (15) and a cover (13) is provided to receive a seismic ring and viscous damping liquid (1) -- the housing body (1) bearing the working chamber is manufactured in the metal forming process in a spinning lathe, starting from a round steel blank (7). In a process that is significantly simplified with respect to the number of clampings and the tool changes, the round steel blank, clamped between mandrel bodies within the spinning lathe, is divided in a splitting process into two blank sections (31, 33), which receive the contour of the cylindrical inner and outer shell (17, 19), defining the working chamber (5) of the torsional vibration damper, owing to the subsequent forming.
