A process is provided for curing a high internal phase emulsion to form a porous crosslinked polymeric material, comprising the steps of: forming a high internal phase emulsion having at least one curable phase; providing a continuous strip of polymeric film wherein the polymeric film is incompatible with each of the phase of emulsion; placing at least a portion of the emulsion continuously on the polymer film; closing the polymeric film around the emulsion; spiraling the emulsion in the polymeric film onto a spool, wherein the spool rotates about an essentially vertical axis for storage of the emulsion during curing; and curing the emulsion within the polymeric film on the spool. Apparatuses to perform this process are also disclosed.

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à durcir une émulsion à haute teneur en phase interne afin d'obtenir un matériau polymère poreux réticulé. Ledit procédé consiste à préparer une émulsion à haute teneur en phase interne, possédant au moins une phase durcissable, à produire une bande continue de feuil polymère incompatible avec chacune des phases de l'émulsion, à placer au moins une partie de l'émulsion en continu sur le feuil polymère, à refermer le feuil polymère autour de l'émulsion, à enrouler l'émulsion dans le feuil polymère sur une bobine tournant autour d'un axe vertical, afin de conserver l'émulsion pendant le durcissement et à laisser durcir l'émulsion à l'intérieur du feuil polymère sur la bobine. L'invention concerne également des dispositifs servant à mettre ce procédé en application.
