A method for producing an aqueous solution of an aminocarboxylic acid from an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt of the aminocarboxylic acid is disclosed. The first step of the method is to adjust the pH of the aqueous solution of the alkali metal salt of the aminocarboxylic acid to between 1.0 and 3Ø This is done by adding a monovalent inorganic acid to the aqueous solution of the alkali metal salt of the aminocarboxylic acid to form an aqueous feed solution containing protonated aminocarboxylic acid and an inorganic alkali salt having an inorganic anion and an alkali metal cation. The second step of the method is to pass the aqueous feed solution through at least one membrane using a diafiltration process to separate the aqueous feed solution into an aqueous permeate solution, containing the alkali metal cation, and an aqueous retentate solution containing the aminocarboxylic acid.
Procédé de production d'une solution aqueuse d'un acide aminocarboxylique à partir d'une solution aqueuse d'un sel de métal alcalin de l'acide aminocarboxylique. La première étape du procédé consiste à ajuster le pH de la solution aqueuse du sel de métal alcalin de l'acide aminocarboxylique entre 1.0 et 3Ø On y parvient en ajoutant un acide inorganique monovalent à la solution aqueuse du sel de métal alcalin de l'acide aminocarboxylique pour former une solution d'alimentation aqueuse contenant de l'acide aminocarboxyliuqe protoné et un sel alcalin inorganique ayant un anion inorganique et un cation de métal alcalin. La seconde étape dudit procédé consiste à faire passer la solution d'alimentation aqueuse à travers au moins une membrane à l'aide d'un processus de diafiltration pour séparer la solution d'alimentation aqueuse en une solution de perméat aqueux, contenant le cation de métal alcalin, et en une solution de retentat aqueuse contenant l'acide aminocarboxylique.
