The effluent stream from the treatment of glass with vapor-phase coating materials contains metal residues. By washing that effluent stream, in an apparatus having a scrubber bed and flow-control and -recycling means, with an acidic solution having a limited concentration of the metal residue, recovery efficiency of the post-coating treatment is improved, and process emissions are reduced.
