L'invention concerne un procédé pour retarder la formation et/ou réduire la tendance à l'agglomération des hydrates à l'intérieur d'un fluide comportant une eau et un gaz, dans des conditions où un hydrate peut se former, les hydrates étant formés à partir d'eau et du gaz, caractérisé en ce qu'on incorpore au fluide un additif comprenant un composé amphiphile choisi dans le groupe formé par les composés amphiphiles non-ioniques et les composés amphiphiles comportant au moins un groupe imide. Ce procédé permet d'éviter les inconvénients économiques liés à l'utilisation des inhibiteurs ou moyens d'isolation de l'art antérieur pour arriver à la même fin.
