A method of thickening liquid hydrocarbons comprises mixing the hydrocarbon with an essentially paraffin polyolefin polymer in solid form to yield a thickened homogenous solution. The hydrocarbon is preferably kerosene and the polymer may be a "Vistanex" polymer. The product may be used as a lamp oil but may also be applied to charcoal for use as a lighting fuel for barbecues.

Cette invention concerne un procédé d'épaississement d'hydrocarbures liquides, qui consiste à mélanger l'hydrocarbure avec un polymère de polyoléfine de paraffine sous forme solide dans le but d'obtenir une solution homogène épaissie. L'hydrocarbure est de préférence du kérosène et le polymère peut être un polymère "Vistanex". Le produit peut être utilisé comme pétrole lampant, mais peut égalent être appliquer sur du charbon de bois comme allume-barbecue.
