A method of processing organic material comprises heating the organic material to a temperature exceeding 100 ~C in an atmosphere comprising at least one of superheated steam, a hot inert gas, hot air and hot process gases, and subsequently cooling the heated organic material in an atmosphere comprising at least one of superheated steam and an inert gas. Also described are processing apparatus for use in performing the method.

Ce procédé de traitement de matière organique consiste à chauffer la matière à une température dépassant les 100 ·C dans une atmosphère constituée d'au moins l'un des composants suivants : vapeur surchauffée, gaz inerte chaud, air chaud et gaz de traitement chauds, puis à laisser refroidir cette matière dans une atmosphère constituée d'au moins de la vapeur surchauffée ou d'un gaz inerte. L'invention porte également sur une machine de traitement permettant de mettre en oeuvre le procédé décrit ci-dessus.
