A pharmaceutical tablet having a break line aligned across a long dimension of the tablet such that a twisting action, in which parts of the tablets on opposite sides of the break line are subjected to rotational twisting force in respectively opposite senses, causes the tablet to break along a line substantially following the break line, into two or more parts. Preferably the shape comprises two lobes on either longitudinally disposed side of the longitudinal mid-point of the tablet, with a waist in between which is narrower in width than the widest part of each lobe. The tablet is preferably broken by the user using a twisting action.

Cette invention porte sur un comprimé pharmaceutique présentant une ligne de rupture qui s'étend à travers une dimension longue du comprimé de sorte que, en imprimant aux parties opposées du comprimé et séparées par la ligne de rupture une force de torsion rotative dans des directions respectivement contraires, on provoque la rupture du comprimé en deux ou plusieurs morceaux, le long d'une ligne correspondant sensiblement à la ligne de rupture. Dans sa forme préférée, le comprimé comprend deux lobes sur chacun des côtés longitudinaux du point médian longitudinal du comprimé, lequel comporte, entre les deux lobes, un étranglement plus étroit en largeur que la partie la plus large de chaque lobe. De préférence, le comprimé se rompt par une action de torsion exécutée par l'utilisateur.
