A process for pre-emptive potential in bioremediation of oil spills comprising the steps of fabricating cells of microorganisms capable of degrading hydrocarbons, encapsulating the cells into pods (16) dissolvable in a non- hydrocarbon environment such as water, introducing the pods into a body of petroleum (20) contained in a vessel (21) which if unintentionally fractured to release the body of petroleum (20) into the non-hydrocarbon environment will also release the cells, causing the cells to open and allow the microorganism to degrade the hydrocarbon and consume the oil spill. The process may also include the step of recovering pods (16) which are not released into the non-hydrocarbon environment from the body of petroleum (20). The invention also includes a product for pre-emptive bioremediation of oil spills which has cells of microorganisms capable of degrading hydrocarbons encapsuled in pods (16) and which can be introduced into a body of petroleum (20) during transport and storage and which are activated to degrade hydrocarbon and consume petroleum released into a non-hydrocarbon environment, wherein the pods (16) also contain means for removing unactivated microorganism cells from the body of petroleum.
L'invention concerne un procédé potentiel préventif de biorestauration de déversements de pétrole, ce procédé consistant tout d'abord à fabriquer des cellules de micro-organismes capables de dégrader les hydrocarbures, puis à encapsuler ces cellules dans des pastilles (16) pouvant être dissoutes dans un environnement exempt d'hydrocarbures, par exemple l'eau, et à introduire ces pastilles dans le pétrole (20) contenu à l'intérieur d'une cuve (21). Si celle-ci est accidentellement fracturée et libère le pétrole (20) dans ledit environnement exempt d'hydrocarbures, on libère alors également les cellules, afin d'amener celles-ci à s'ouvrir pour permettre aux micro-organismes de dégrader lesdits hydrocarbures et ainsi de consommer le déversement de pétrole. Ce procédé peut également consister à récupérer dans le pétrole (20) les pastilles (16) qui n'ont pas été libérées dans l'environnement exempt d'hydrocarbures. Cette invention concerne également un produit potentiel préventif de biorestauration de déversements de pétrole, ce produit renfermant des cellules de micro-organismes capables de dégrader les hydrocarbures encapsulés dans des pastilles (16), et pouvant être introduit dans le pétrole (20) pendant son transport et son stockage, lesdites cellules étant activées de manière à dégrader les hydrocarbures et à consommer le pétrole libéré dans un environnement exempt d'hydrocarbures, les pastilles (16) contenant également des substances permettant d'éliminer du pétrole toute cellule de micro-organisme non activée.
