A process for the hydrogenation of 3-aminopentanenitrile to produce 1,3- diaminopentane using a Raney® cobalt catalyst promoted with chromium nickel molybdenum, iron, manganese or mixtures thereof. Performing the reaction in the presence of aqueous caustic (e.g., alkali metal hydroxide) enhances the selectivity to 1,3-diaminopentane.

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé d'hydrogénation de 3-aminopentanenitrile destiné à la production de 1,3-diaminopentane au moyen d'un catalyseur au cobalt de Raney 3 activé par du chrome, du nickel, du molybdène, du fer, du manganèse ou des mélanges de ces éléments. La mise en oeuvre de la réaction dans un environnement corrosif aqueux (contenant par exemple, un hydroxyde de métal alcalin) accroît la sélectivité vis à vis du 1,3-diaminopentane.
