ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Catalysts having high selectivity in the oxidation of alkenes, especially ethylene to the corresponding alkyline oxides comprise silver on a support having a surface area of 0,05 to 10 m2/g, the catalyst being promoted both with sodium and with another alkali metal selected from potassium rubidium and cesium. The silver and alkali metals are suit- ably introduced to the supported by impregnation with solu- tion(s) of their compounds. The silver compound is do- compound after impregnation to silver metal.
