ABSTRACT PRODUCTION OF ALUMINA FROM ALUMINOUS SILICEOUS MATERIALS A method of producing alumina in which a clinker containing dicalcium silicate and alkali metal alumin- ates is wet ground and fed onto a porous conveyor on which the slurry is filtered to extract most of the leach liquid containing a major portion of the aluminates. The residue of the slurry is carried on by the conveyor and washed with water to remove further aluminates from the dicalcium silicate.
