PRODUCTION OF AMMONIA FROM HYDROCARBONACEOUS FEEDSTOCK ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ammonia is produced from hydrocarbonaceous feedstock by catalytic partial oxidation of the feedstock under temperature and steam conditions producing synthesis gas without free carbon; conversion of carbon monoxide in the synthesis gas to carbon dioxide by a water shift gas reaction; removal of carbon dioxide; adjustment of the hydrogen-to-nitrogen molar ratio to between 2:1 and 4:1 and reaction of hydrogen and nitrogen under ammonia-producing conditions.
