Abstract A method and apparatus is disclosed for use in the textile industry for binding together a pair of elongated fibre bundles, e.g. yarns, twines or the like. The two such bundles to be bound together are held so as to extend across a space between opposed roughened surfaces of a pair of coaxially rotatable deformation members. The bundles intersect each other while defining a plane in which the axis of rotation of the deformation members lies. With these members counterrotating one of them is briefly moved towards the other to reduce the distance between their surfaces to squeeze and bind the bundles together in the regions engaged by the parts of these surfaces radially displaced from the axis. A peripherial edge of one of the surfaces also serves to sever an end of each bundle.
