A method of producing cellulose carbamate is described in which: (a) cellulose is brought into contact with liquid ammonia at an initial pressure exceeding atmospheric pressure and a temperature of at least about 25 ~C, in the presence of urea, the quantity of liquid ammonia sufficing at least to wet the surface of the cellulose; (b)the volume available to the cellulose-urea-liquid ammonia system is enlarged explosively, lowering the pressure by at least 5 bar, and an activated mixture of cellulose and urea is obtained; (c) the activated mixture of cellulose and urea is taken up in an inert organic carrier for the reaction, and heated to a temperature between about 110 ~C and 150 ~C to make cellulose carbamate, and (d) the organic reaction carrier and any urea not reacted are removed from the cellulose carbamate obtained. The method saves energy and supplies a very homogenous cellulose carbamate.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production de carbamate de cellulose selon lequel: (a) on met de la cellulose en contact avec de l'amoniaque à une pression initiale supérieure à la pression atmosphérique et à une température d'au moins environ 25 ·C, en présence d'urée, la quantité d'amoniaque étant suffisante au moins pour mouiller la surface de la cellulose; (b) on augmente le volume disponible pour le système cellulose-urée-amoniaque de façon explosive, en abaissant la pression d'au moins 5 bars, et on obtient un mélange activé de cellulose et d'urée; (c) le mélange activé de cellulose et d'urée est absorbé dans un porteur de réaction organique inerte, et chauffé jusqu'à une température comprise entre environ 110 ·C et 150 ·C, pour produire du carbamate de cellulose; et (d) le porteur de réaction organique et, éventuellement, l'urée n'ayant pas réagi sont éliminés du carbamate de cellulose obtenu. Ce procédé permet d'économiser de l'énergie et d'obtenir un carbamate de cellulose très homogène.
