ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Coloured legends can be produced using a combination of dry transfer lettering which is available in many styles but few colours, and blocking foil available in a wide variety of colours. The legend is first built up in e.g. black or while and the blocking foil laid thereon. The substrate on which the legend is built up is such that on subjecting the blocking foil to heat and pressure colour transfers to the legend. If the foil is appropriately formulated, the coloured legend may then be heat transferred to the back of a transparent or translucent sign sheet to form a sign.
