The production process comprises A) forming an acidic aqueous solution comprising alkali metal cations, bromide anions, and sulfamate anions; B) feeding into said aqueous solution a source of alkali metal cations and chlorine-containing bromide oxidant proportioned to keep the resultant aqueous medium acidic and to form an acidic product solution containing at least about 5 wt% of active bromine; and C) raising the pH of the aqueous product solution with water-soluble base to at least about 10.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production comprenant les étapes suivantes : A) on prépare une solution aqueuse acide comprenant des cations métalliques alcalins, des anions bromure et des anions sulfamate, B) on introduit sans cette solution aqueuse une source de cations métalliques alcalins et un oxydant de bromure contenant du chlore dosé manière à maintenir le milieu aqueux obtenu à l'état acide, et à produire une solution acide résultante contenant au moins 5 % en poids de brome actif, et C) on élève le pH de la solution aqueuse résultante avec une base soluble à l'eau au moins à environ 10.
