Disclosed is a process for the production of esters. In particular, the process includes contacting an olefin or an ether with carbon monoxide and an acid composition comprising BF3.2ROH to from a product composition, adding an alcohol to the product composition, and separating the BF3.2ROH from the ester. The separated BF3.2ROH may then be recycled to the reaction unit.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'esters. Particulièrement, ce procédé consiste à mettre en contact une oléfine ou un éther avec du monoxyde de carbone et une composition acide contenant BF3.2ROH pour former une composition de produit, à ajouter ensuite un alcool à la composition de produit et à séparer ensuite BF3.2ROH de l'ester.
