2137273 9324560 PCTABS00028 A process is disclosed for manufacturing slabs of cellular material having at least 20 mm thickness and at least 50 cm2 cross-section by extrusion of a mixture of a styrene polymer and 1 to 10% by weight of a foaming agent, in relation to the styrene polymer. The process is characterized in that the foaming agent contains at least one ether from the group of the dimethyl, methylethyl and methylvinyl ethers.
