An aluminum alloy foil is formed from an alloy containing about 1.2 to 1.7% by weight iron, about 0.4 to 0.8% by weight silicon and about 0.07 to 0.20% by weight manganese, with the balance aluminum and incidental impurities. The alloy is continuously strip cast, e.g. on a belt caster, to form a strip having a thickness of less than about 25 mm, which is then cold rolled to interanneal gauge followed by interannealing at a temperature of about 280 to 350~C. The interanneal strip is cold rolled to final gauge and further annealed to form the final foil product, having high strength and excellent quality.

L'invention concerne une feuille d'alliage en aluminium constituée d'un alliage contenant environ 1,2 à 1,7 % en pds de fer, environ 0,4 à 0,8 % en pds de silicium et environ 0,07 à 0,2 % en pds de manganèse, le reste étant de l'aluminium et des impuretés incidentelles. L'alliage est coulé en bandes en continu, p. ex. sur une machine de coulée à courroie, pour former une bande ayant une épaisseur inférieure à environ 25 mm, qui est ensuite laminée à froid selon un gabarit de recuit intermédiaire, puis soumise à un recuit intermédiaire à une température comprise entre 280 et 350 ·C. La bande de recuit intermédiaire est laminée à froid selon un gabarit final et recuite davantage pour former la feuille finale dotée d'une résistance élevée et d'une excellente qualité.
