Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention provides a recombinant DNA which comprises a human EGF-encoding DNA linked to the 3'-terminal of a promoter region-containing DNA, said promoter region being derived from Bacillus brevis, a transformant of Bacillus brevis having a recombinant DNA which comprises a human EGF-encoding DNA linked to the 3'-terminal of a promoter region-containing DNA, and a method for producing human EGF which comprises (a) cultivating said transformant in a culture medium, (b) producing and accumulating human EGF in a culture broth, and (c) recovering human EGF from the culture broth. The method for producing human EGF according to the present invention permits mass production of human EGF at high efficiency while stably maintaining the human EGF-encoding DNA in the transformant.
