This invention relates to plant fatty acid hydroxylases. Methods to use conserved amino acid or nucleotide sequences to obtain plant fatty acid hydroxylases are described. Also described is the use of cDNA clones encoding a plant hydroxylase to produce a family of hydroxylated fatty acids in transgenic plants. In addition, the use of genes encoding fatty acid hydroxylases or desaturases to alter the level of lipid fatty acid unsaturation in transgenic plants is described.
Cette invention concerne des hydroxylases d'acides gras de plantes. Des procédés d'utilisation de séquences d'acides aminés ou de nucléotides conservés afin d'obtenir des hydroxylases d'acide gras de plantes sont décrits. Est également décrite l'utilisation de clones d'ADNc codant une hydroxylase végétale afin de produire une famille d'acides gras hydroxylés dans des plantes transgéniques. De plus, l'utilisation de gènes codant des hydroxylases ou des désaturases d'acides gras, afin de modifier le niveau d'insaturation en acides gras lipidiques dans des plantes transgéniques, est également décrite.
