PRODUCTION OF KITASAMYCIN(LEUCOMYCIN) COMPLEX FROM SEREPTOMYCES KITASATOENSIS Abstract of the Disclosure Herein is disclosed a high potency antibiotic complex of kitasa- mycin. The new complex is distinguished from previous preparations of kitasamycin by containing from at least 80-90% by weight of a combined A1 and A3 fraction or a combined A4 and A5 fraction, fractions which are among the most active of the several fractions identified from previously reported preparations of the antibiotic complex. The new complex is prepared by cultivating the microorganism S. kitasatoensis NRRL 2486 in a nutrient medium containing additives, or by growing the microorganism in the presence of 4-azaleucine followed by cultivating the resultant growth in a nutrient medium. -1-
