ABSTRACT PRODUCTION OF PARA-DIISOPROPYLBENZENE AND USE OF THE SAME IN THE PRODUCTION OF HYDROQUINONE A process is disclosed whereby cumene is disproportionated in the presence of a ZSM-12 catalyst to selectively produce para-diisopropylbenzene. The para-diisopropylbenzene product may be oxidized to the corresponding dihydroperoxide followed by rearrangement to produce hydroquinone and acetone.
