Disclosed herein is a novel crystalline form of low molecular weight poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate). This crystalline form may be produced from molten or glassy low molecular weight poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) material by means of rapid heat transfer to or from the material. The poly(ethylene 2,6- naphthalate) composition is suitable for use as a starting material for solid- state polymerization in order to produce polymers of higher molecular weight.

L'invention porte sur une nouvelle forme cristalline de poly(éthylène 2,6-naphtalate) de faible masse moléculaire. Il est possible de produire cette forme cristalline à partir d'un matériau de poly(éthylène 2,6-naphtalate) de faible masse moléculaire, fondu ou vitreux, par transfert rapide de chaleur depuis ce matériau ou vers lui. La composition à base de poly(éthylène 2,6-naphtalate) convient parfaitement comme matière première d'une polymérisation à l'état solide en vue de la production de polymères de masse moléculaire plus élevée.
