ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A process for the production of a polyacetylene film which is from 2 to 20,000 µm thick by polymerization of acetylene with an Ziegler catalyst on a solid substrate, wherein a Ziegler catalyst-containing solution with a vis- cosity of from 5 to 50,000 mPa.s, preferably from 50 to 10,000 mPa.s, measured at 20°C, is employed and the polyme- rization temperature is from -15 to +150°C, especially from +15 to +50°C. The viscosity can be adjusted by means of a polysiloxane, a polymeric aluminum or a polymeric titanate.
