A method for treating raw milk to produce treated milk having a lower bacterial content than the raw milk. The milk is homogenized and within about 5 minutes from the homogenization, subjected to dynamic microfiltration, to yield a filtrate which has a lower bacterial content than the initial raw milk. The resultant milk can be sterile, free from Bacillus cereus bacteria that usually causes degradation of milk quality during refrigerated storage. The milk can be shipped even under non-refrigerated conditions without spoilage, for extended periods of time.

Méthode de traitement du lait crû afin de produire du lait traité contenant moins de bactéries que le lait crû. Le lait est homogénéisé et, environ 5 minutes après l'homogénéisation, est soumis à la microfiltration afin d'obtenir un filtrat contenant moins de bactéries que le lait crû initial. Le lait résultant peut être stérile, exempt de Bacillus cereus, bactérie habituellement responsable de la dégradation de la qualité du lait pendant sa conservation au réfrigérateur. Le lait peut être expédié, même non réfrigéré, sans pertes ni détérioration pendant une longue période de temps.
