PRODUCTION OF SUBSTITUTED-BUTANEDIPEROXOIC ACIDS ABSTRACT Substituted-butanediperoxoic acid is produced by reacting substituted succinic anhydride with a mixture of concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The succinic anhydride preferably has the formula Image wherein R is alkyl of 6 to 18 carbon atoms or phenyl. The substituted-butanediperoxoic acids are particularly useful as bleaching agents.
