A petroleum coke-based combined De-SOx and De-NOx process is described comprising use of four key units, namely, a flue gas concentrator (FC). a carbothermal reducer (CR), an elemental sulphur condenser (SC) and an oxidi-rer for reduced sulphur and nitrogen species (R0). The two major reactants in this process are the petroleum coke, preferably. and a flue gas containing SOx/NOx. The mayor products are elemental sulphur from the SC and activated coke from the CR. The process provides for SOx and NOx abatement in an economically viable way while the activated coke produced has a wide range of applications, particularly, in environmental protection.

On décrit un procédé combinant du De-SOx et du De-NOx à base de coke de pétrole, comprenant l'utilisation de quatre unités principales, à savoir, un concentrateur de gaz de combustion (CG), un réducteur carbothermique (RC), un condenseur de soufre élémentaire (CS) et un oxidi-rer pour les espèces de soufre et d'azote réduites (R0). Les deux réactifs principaux de ce processus sont le coke de pétrole, de préférence, et un gaz de combustion contenant du SOx ou du NOx. Les principaux produits sont le soufre élémentaire du CS et le coke actif du RC.
