PROCESS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for preparing white mineral oil from a mineral oil distillate of lubricating viscosity by first contacting the distillate with hydrogen in the presence of sulfur-resistant catalyst to form hydrogenated oil and then second contacting at least a portion of the hydrogenated oil with hydrogen in the presence of a second catalyst to form a refined oil from which white oil is recovered. The second catalyst, which comprises a support, at least one palladium component and at least one halogen component, possess improved catalyst activity.
