The invention relates to a method for calling a function in a function- oriented programming language such as C, from an object-oriented programming language such as JAVA, whereby the content of the fields used in the structure are filed in a sequence corresponding to a format string in a data string by means of a recursive call of a serialisation method (toX) and the above converted to a memory layout of the structure by a pack function and the functions of the function-oriented programming language are called with the memory layout as parameter.
