ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel device is disclosed herein which is intended to permit the release, into a liquid medium which can be, particularly, that of an animal or human organism, of chemical substances, active in veterinary medicine, over a long period of time. The release of the active substance follows a predetermined kinetic effect from an insoluble macro-molecular and thermoplastic solid polymeric matrix support based on an insoluble polymer or copolymer comprising an adjuvant and an additive. The matrix support totally or almost totally encloses one or more masses of dense material conferring to the whole device a specific density, higher than 1.3 g/ml, so as to remain in an animal rumen. The matrix support retains its surface during use of the device.
