RCA 79,680R PROGRESSIVE SCAN TELEVISION DISPLAY SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A color television display apparatus comprises a luminance signal processing channel and a chrominance signal processing channel for processing TV signals representing an image scanned in interlaced fashion. A comb-filter is coupled to an input which receives signals representing lines of luminance and chrominance information, and the comb-filter separates the lines of luminance information from the lines of chrominance information. The lines of luminance information are time compressed to provide a first signal without interpolation and to provide a second signal derived by interpolation. The first and second signals are then interleaved. The lines of chrominance information are time compressed by the same factor as the luminance signals to provide a third signal derived without interpolation which is interleaved with a fourth signal representing replicas derived without interpolation. The interleaved first and second signals and third and fourth signals are displayed by progressive scanning.
