ABSTRACT PROGRESSIVE SCAN TELEVISION DISPLAY SYSTEM A color television display apparatus comprises a luminance signal processing channel and a chrominance signal processing channel for processing TV signals representing an image scanned in interlaced fashion. In the luminance signal processing channel, the lines of luminance signals are subject to time compression (19) and interpolation (13) to produce lines of time compressed luminance interleaved with time compressed interpolated luminance. In the chrominance signal processing channel the lines of chrominance information are subject to time compression and replication (47) to produce lines of time compressed chrominance interleaved with replicas of those lines. The luminance and chrominance signals so processed are displayed (65,67,69,71,73) by progressive scanning in the chrominance signal processing channel, The chrominance components (I,Q) are separated either before or after time compression and replication.
