Abstract For the existing ways of timer recording television programs by video cassette recorders, the users have to have a good understanding of the process of setting the timer which is usually a headache for many people. In this invention, users could do this much easier (or with a new method by searching through the program schedules transmitted by TV stations through air or cable along with the TV signal which are memorized by this newly invented equipment. Viewers could retrieve this memorized program schedules to set the timer for recording. This invention is a different approach and improvement to another new method of setting timer recording, which had been granted the patent by USA, by assigning a code to each program; viewer could just press a two or three digit code to set the timer for the VCR recording. Another feature of this equipment is that this program schedules could be retrieved any time by the users through buttons on TV receivers, VCRs or their remote control units, this compares to the existing program schedules being shown on separate TV channels, and information of programs could only appears consecutively, viewers have to wait to see what programs are available. The other feature of this equipment is that it could perform an instant timer recording feature during a program (eg. great movie) is being promoted by TV station. If the viewers like to record this great movie, they can simply press one button to set the timer during this great movie is being promoted by it's own channel through the screen. This serve a simplest way of setting timer recording and is not existing on the market. This equipment could serve to memorize other data which could be retrieved by the users any time they want to.
