Screen apparatus (30) provided which includes a first lens layer (31) and a second mask layer (75). The first layer collimates light (35) to impinge on the mask layer (75). The mask layer (75) provides an array of projecting members (78, 79, 80, 81). Each of the projecting members (78, 79, 80, 81) receives and focuses the substantially collimated light rays (35) to corresponding focal points. The mask layer (75) includes a mask (86) that blocks light transmission except where openings (87, 88, 89, 90, 91) are located. The openings (87, 88, 89, 90, 91) allow the light focused (92) through the focal points to pass through the mask (86) to form an image.
