ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An adjusting pattern is formed on a cathode-ray tube and this pattern is projected through a projection lens onto a photodetector installed on a screen frame. Based on the output of the photodetector that detects the projected image of the adjusting pattern, the characteristics of the cath- ode-ray tube are automatically adjusted with the adjusting pattern being adjusted to the optimum level.
