It is an object to prevent deterioration of a projected image occurring attributable to lowering of the temperature of a liquid crystal panel, the difference in the temperature between the liquid crystal panels and temperature inclination in the liquid crystal panel. A projection-type liquid crystal display apparatus having a light source 1, liquid crystal panels 12, 13 and 14 for modulating a light beam emitted by the light source 1, a projection lens 21 for projecting the modulated light beam onto a screen 28, temperature detectors 25, 26 and 27 for detecting the temperatures of portions adjacent to the liquid crystal panels 12, 13 and 14, heater elements 18, 19 and 20 disposed adjacent to image forming surfaces of the liquid crystal panels 12, 13 and 14 and on a light path of a light beam emitted from the light source 1, a drive circuit 40 for operating the heater elements 18, 19 and 20 and a control unit 35 for controlling the heat generating performance of the heater elements 18, 19 and 20 in accordance with values detected by the temperature detectors 25, 26 and 27.
L'invention est un dispositif servant à empêcher la dégradation d'une image projetée résultant de la baisse de température de panneaux à cristaux liquides, de la différence de température entre panneaux différents et du gradient de température dans les panneaux individuels. L'invention est utilisée dans un appareil d'affichage d'images à cristaux liquides du type à projection comportant une source lumineuse 1, des panneaux à cristaux liquides 12, 13 et 14 servant à moduler un faisceau lumineux émis par la source 1, un objectif 21 servant à projeter le faisceau lumineux modulé sur un écran 28, des détecteurs de température 25, 26 et 27 servant à détecter les températures d'éléments voisins des panneaux à cristaux liquides 12, 13 et 14, des éléments chauffants 18, 19 et 20 montés au voisinage des surface de formation des images des panneaux à cristaux liquides 12, 13 et 14 et sur le trajet d'un faisceau lumineux émis par la source 1, un circuit d'attaque 40 pour les éléments chauffants 18, 19 et 20 et une unité de commande 35 servant à commander la quantité de chaleur engendrée par les éléments chauffants 18, 19 et 20 en utilisant les températures détectées par les détecteurs 25, 26 et 27.
