Abstract PROMOTERS CAPABLE OF EXPRESSION OF FOREIGN GENES IN YEAST PLASMIDS COMPRISING THEM, AND USES THEREOF FOR THE PRODUCTION OF POLYPEPTIDES. Promoters capable of ensuring expression in yeast of genes coding for generally heterologous polypeptides are dis- closed, which consist of a DNA fragment comprised between two restriction sites and having a definite nucleotide sequence,as well as the mutants and sub-fragment thereof. Also disclosed are vector plasmids containing said promoters, transformed yeasts comprising said plasmids, and a process for preparing polypeptides and especially a 1,4-.beta.-N-acetylmuramidase.
