This invention is directed to a method for promoting early establishment of potato crops, and is particularly directed to promotion of potato sprout number and length, and reduction of sprout tip necrosis. In one aspect of the invention, a method is provided for increasing the number of sprouts per tuber, comprising the steps of administering an effective amount of aminoethoxyvinylglycine or 1 -methylcyclopropene to the tuber to promote sprouting in the tuber. In another aspect of the invention, a method is provided for promoting the elongation of sprouts, comprising the steps of administering an effective amount of aminoethoxyvinylglycine or 1~methylcyclopropene to the tuber to promote sprout elongation. In yet another aspect of the invention, a method is provided for reducing sprout tip necrosis, comprising the steps of administering an effective amount of aminoethoxyvinylglycine to the tuber to reduce sprout tip necrosis.
La présente invention a trait à un procédé destiné à favoriser l'implantation précoce de cultures de pommes de terre, et se rapporte en particulier à l'augmentation du nombre de germes de pommes de terre, de leur longueur, et à la réduction de la nécrose de la pointe du germe. Dans un aspect, l'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'augmenter le nombre de germes par tubercule, qui comprend l'étape consistant à administrer une dose efficace d'aminoéthoxyvinylglycine ou de 1-méthylcyclopropène au tubercule, afin de favoriser la germination dans le tubercule. Dans un autre aspect, l'invention concerne un procédé destiné à favoriser l'allongement de germes, qui comprend l'étape consistant à administrer une dose efficace de aminoéthoxyvinylglycine ou de 1-méthylcyclopropène au tubercule, afin de favoriser l'allongement du germe. Enfin, dans un autre aspect, l'invention concerne un procédé destiné à réduire la nécrose de la pointe du germe, qui comprend l'étape consistant à administrer une dose efficace d'aminoéthoxyvinylglycine au tubercule, afin de réduire la nécrose de la pointe du germe.
