The present invention relates to methods for promoting somatic embryogenesis from a plant cell, tissue, organ, callus or cell culture, by overexpressing a PGA37 gene in the tissue or organ. In one embodiment, such overexpression can be used as a silent selectable marker for transgenic plants. In another embodiment, such expression can be used to confer apomixis to a plant. In another embodiment, such overexpression can be used to create haploid plants, which can be used to produce dihaploid plants.

L'invention concerne des procédés qui permettent de favoriser l'embryogenèse somatique à partir d'une cellule, d'un tissu, d'un organe, d'un cal ou d'une culture cellulaire végétale, en induisant la surexpression d'un gène <I>PGA37</I> dans le tissu ou l'organe. Dans un mode de réalisation, on peut utiliser la surexpression du gène comme marqueur silencieux sélectionnable pour des plantes transgéniques. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, on peut utiliser cette expression pour conférer l'apomixie à une plante. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, on peut utiliser cette surexpression pour créer des plantes haploïdes qui pourront servir à la production de plantes dihaploïdes.
