11972 PRONGED ANODE COLLECTOR FOR INTERNALLY SHORTING GALVANIC CELLS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A galvanic cell employing a consumable anode,a cathode that expands during cell discharge and an electrolyte, wherein the improvement is the incorporation of a pronged anode collector partially embedded in the anode so that during discharge when the anode is partially consumed and the cathode expands, the expanded cathode will contact the prongs of the anode collector and internally short the cell thereby effectively eliminating any distortion in the housing for the cell.
