ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A knock-type propelling pencil comprising a lead pipe inserted into an outer cylinder and having a lead chuck at the end portion thereof, a chuck-fastening tube for fasten- ing the lead chuck, a cushion sleeve coming into contact with said chuck-fastening tube being slidable relative to said outer cylinder, and being urged by a spring, wherein said cushion sleeve has a cushion portion which can be resiliently deformed to absorb excessive writing pressure and thereby preventing breaking of the lead.
