A treatment system is described having a controllable pump with an automatic calibration and measuring system. Pumped volume can be determined during each cycle using a fluid flow measuring device and a controller. The fluid flow measuring device has a totalizer counter, and batch measurement capability. For each batch, the fluid flow measuring device sends a ready signal to the controller. The controller sends a start signal to initialize the totalizer counter and tells the totalizer to start flow measurement. When the totalizer value equals the batch value, a batch complete signal is sent, defining a predetermined volume by which the controller measures and automatically calibrates the system. The controller determines the number of cycles of the pump required to pump the predetermined volume, and determines deviation from a pre-established number. The pump responds to the detected deviation.
